The opening titles from the Bond film that started it all. The sequence was designed by Maurice Binder, who was the go-to title designer for Bond films until his death in 1991, and features the original theme composed by Monty Norman and conducted by John Barry.

Among his credits for over 75 films, Maurice Binder also designed stunning titles for a few of my other favorite films from the 1960s: Charade (1963), Two For The Road (1967) – both directed by Stanley Donen and starring Audrey Hepburn – and Repulsion (1965), directed by Roman Polanski and starring Catherine Deneuve.

  1. So sweet. I want to sit on lounge furniture that evokes that era. We need better opening titles designers like this guy and Saul Bass for our modern films. Then again maybe they don’t deserve it.
