Great White Dress Shirts from Alara

I’m not very confident with color, but I am improving. That said, my favorite shirt to wear is the great white dress shirt. With companies like Brooks Brothers and Charles Tyrwhitt killing real cotton shirts and replacing them with Stepford Shirts made with toxic, formaldehyde-soaked, no-iron/wrinkle-free cotton, it’s become very difficult to find real, handsome, well-made and affordable cotton dress shirts without going custom.

A Teaser for “Hal Grades Your Bike Locking”

For years, Clarence Eckerson from Streetfilms and Hal Ruzal from Bicycle Habitat in NYC have been collaborating on a short (and very helpful) web video series called “Hal Grades Your Bike Locking.” Clarence asked me to come along for the newest installment so Hal could grade my bike locking. I won’t reveal my grade until the full video comes out on May 5, but I will say that it was pretty consistent with my GPA.

Shorts in the City

It’s finally starting to feel like spring. After one of the bitchiest winters in recent memory, signs suggest that summer is actually coming. With temperatures flirting with 70°, men in the city are already starting to show some leg.

I don’t wear shorts in the city. In the midst of our culture’s relentless quest to recapture the ultra casual comforts of a onesie or a softball practice outfit in adulthood, I won’t do it. The inner child seems to be flourishing. It’s the inner adult I’m worried about.
