My taste in music is a mess. All over the place. Back in the days of my perfectly alphabetized CD collection, I used to say that Barry Manilow was on the shelf between Madonna and Marilyn Manson.
With the shorter days and cooler nights of fall (among other changes happening in my camp), my musical mood has grown rougher of late. I’ve never been a total headbanger, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the hard edge. When my brother Mike got me the debut albums of The Clash (“The Clash” – 1977) and Van Halen (“Van Halen I” – 1978) for Christmas when I was twelve, it cracked open something. Since then, I will have days with an itch that only metal can scratch.
For the 31 days of October, I collected 31 of my favorite cuts from some of my favorite bands. As with all of my playlists, some were popular Billboard hits while some remain more esoteric.
Enjoy! And Happy October! Rock out with your cock out…

Based on this Rocktober list, we are clearly brothers from other mothers!
Oh, thank God you posted this! I thought I was the only one with split-personality listening habits. Should I listen to some Streisand or listen to Rush 2112 for the 2112th time? You know what goes great with Zeppelin /The Immigrant Song? Peggy Lee singing Fever. I prefer to describe my musical tastes as “diverse”.
