If you haven’t seen Dario Argento’s 1977 original cult masterpiece, do yourself a favor. It’s one of the most revered horror films of all time for good reason. It’s terrifying.
In the original (and the remake), the story follows an American ballet student named Susie Bannion who transfers to a prestigious dance academy in Germany and realizes, after a series of brutal murders and other general weirdness, that the academy is actually a front for a sinister supernatural conspiracy. It’s a freak show of the highest order and in glorious color.
The remake, which is scheduled for release in November, was directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, A Bigger Splash, I Am Love) and stars Dakota Fanning as Susie, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Grace Moretz and Jessica Harper, who played Susie in the original. I’m in.
