Summer is upon us, and it’s time for weekending, which requires a smart weekend bag. Zara wouldn’t ordinarily be on my radar for this, but as I walked home tonight down Broadway from the Upper West Side, I passed the Zara store between 66th and 67th Streets. My eye was caught by a descent looking weekend bag in the window, and I made a mental note to check it out online when I got home.
When I looked at the Zara website, I found the bag that caught my eye in their window, but I found another ultra handsome bag I liked more: the Basic Bowling Bag. It has the dimensions of a normal weekend bag (13 x 21 x 11 inches), and is made of a 100% polyurethane exterior and a 90% polyester/10% cotton interior. The price tag is $89.90.
Another hot bag I like is the Herschel Supply Ravine Duffel Bag. Available from Maxton Men, the bag measures 11 x 21 x 9 inches. This durable duffel is shown in black and tan, but is also available in all black, gray and tan, or cobalt blue. The best part? It’s $65.
This fantastic and durable Orange Duffel Bag from Topo Designs in Colorado measures 24 x 12 inches and is made from ultra-durable 1000d Cordura nylon. It has a natural leather handle, super strong seatbelt handles and an interior organizer pocket. It’s available from our pals at Owen & Fred for $129.
Also available at Owen & Fred is this smart Navy Duffel or Gym Bag from the Wheelmen. This U.S.A.-made bag is built with super strong #8 duck canvas, top grain leather handles and leather-riveted straps. It’s lined with bright orange 1000 denier lining, and the interior pockets include a zipper pocket and open pockets. (I don’t know what #8 duck canvas or 1000 denier lining are, but they sound badass.) There is also an added insert bag for reinforcement when the bag load is heavy. It measures 20 x 10.5 x 10 inches, and will set you back $159.
