My decision to buy a Brompton bike was not a quick one. But after such long deliberation and careful consideration, I'm very glad I did it.
What’s In My Shaving Kit?
I love my Dopp kit. It’s a durable, gray, waxed canvas bag made by Wm. J. Mills Sailmakers in Greenport, NY. I acquired this indestructible bag from Brooklyn’s own Owen & Fred, purveyors of smart, handsome, well-made and affordable accessories for men.
When I travel, whether by air, rail or road, I try to keep it lean and mean with the bare minimum, including travel size versions of my home bathroom accoutrements if available. Here’s the inventory:
- Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Liquid Soap* (which I refill for each trip)
- 2 Dollar Shave Club 4x blades / 1 handle
- Harry’s Shave Cream*
- Wash & Stain Bar from The Laundress
- Travel toothbrush
- Toothpaste*
- Floss
- CVS Antiseptic Mouth Wash (mint)*
- Bulldog Anti-Aging Moisturizer*
- Layrite Pomade* (mini can)
- Q-tips
- Royall Muske*
- Tom’s of Maine unscented deodorant
* Travel size liquid approved by the TSA (3.4 oz or less).

nice photo!
Tom’s of Maine just isn’t strong enough for this dude. Other than that, I’d throw a lip balm, a small bottle of talc, a septic pencil and a few bandaids in there, and then you’re good to go! (I’ve traveled the world with a kit set-up like this).
Excellent additions. My lip balm usually goes in my pocket, but I forgot the band aids. I’d also add Advil.
I keep a small stick of liquid styptic (no bigger than a chapstick) in my kit as well, as I inevitably cut myself shaving when I’m in a hotel room.
Layrite? Good man.
thank you
