People always ask about the calendar hanging above my desk. Here’s the story…

Designed by legendary graphic designer Massimo Vignelli in 1967, the Stendig Calendar is part of the Design Collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Mr. Vignelli is the designer behind American Airlines’ iconic branding and, perhaps most famously, the designer of New York City’s subway signage system. (He loves Helvetica.)

The Stendig is a perfect example of a simple and timeless modern design that still works beautifully more than 50 years later. It measures 48 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In recent years, I’ve had some fun on social media tearing off the page on the first of each month. And as an added bonus, I often use the discarded pages as gift wrapping.

I re-order every year from stendigcalendars.com.

A little favor…

This little blog, my social media nonsense and my occasional podcast run on elbow grease, midnight oil and the frequent bad idea. Access is totally free. Any help you can give so I can continue to produce content and keep the lights on would be immensely appreciated. There is a one-time support option or a recurring subscription through Patreon, which also features exclusive content like my one-man podcast ‘Hahn, Solo’. Thank you so much!!!

  1. Looked at this calendar for years….saw it up in your place and finally pulled the trigger thanks to you. Appreciate this article!

  2. Sold out. Fantastic, thanks George, wasn’t familiar with this, going on the wall in my office…in 2023 hopefully.

Looks so cool and love your monthly tear videos. Just curious – you always hold the calendar while you rip – is it held up with adhesive?
