Smokey has had a limp for a couple of days, favoring his right paw as he limped. I initially thought he might have sprained it during some heavy play at the dog run or something, which he’s done before. But after a couple of days with no obvious improvement, I took him to the vet this afternoon.
Dr. Tan saw nothing wrong with his left paw when she examined it, so we agreed that an x-ray was the next logical step. The x-ray showed no evidence of anything wrong, either. So… it looks like Smokey probably did sprain his paw.
We’re going to take it easy for about a week (no dog run) and take a daily dose of a little pain reliever the vet gave him called Metacam. We also got one of those lamp shade collars so he won’t chew on his paw. He won’t be wearing that, though… he hates it more than anything else in life. Besides, he really isn’t chewing his paw much at all. It’s the end of the day as I write this, and he’s already doing much better.
That’s the latest.
