The fine gents at Owen & Fred have brought to us a great looking line of barbershop-grade grooming products from Imperial Barbers in L.A. – a group of real barbers who weren’t finding a suitable water-based pomade. They decided to create their own line: Imperial Barber Products.
“We all grew up using petroleum and wax based pomades. But by the time you’re 50 or so you have huge problems. It’s harmful to the body and hair. It’s a no brainer to use water base… It took three years to make our entire line of products with our water-based pomade taking two-and-a-half of those years.” – Bryan Fisher, Imperial Barber Products
The Imperial Barber Products line includes a water-based Fiber Grease Men’s Hair Pomade ($20) and a Matte Pomade Paste ($24). There is also a Bergamot Aftershave ($10), with the soothing and refreshing essential oil of the Bergamot orange and calming, healing and moisturizing macadamia oil. For a smooth shave or a good face wash, they have the Glycerin Shave Soap ($12) with glycerin, Vitamin E, safflower, and palm and coconut oils. Finally, there’s the Pre-Shave Oil ($12) with blade-glide enhancing macadamia glycerides, moisturizing antioxidant squalene oil and Vitamin E antioxidant, all wrapped in a light, masculine lavender scent.
As their company info says, the entire line is “MADE BY BARBERS. MADE TO WORK. MADE IN THE U.S.A.” Good stuff.
