Sartorially speaking, fall is my favorite season. After a hot summer of bad shorts, unfortunate flip flops, and ill-advised tank tops, and before a cold winter of cumbersome layers, big coats, and hair-killing hats, fall lets us comfortably strut the streets in clothes that flatter.

As anyone who knows me knows, I love wearing suits, but they can be unbearably hot in the summer. Certain pairs of jeans, especially with heavier denim, are really wearable only in the cooler weather. And starting in late September, light jackets and great sweaters (sweater weather!) all comfortably come back into rotation.

Just the other night, I wore a suit to an event and, for the first time in months, I wasn’t too warm at all. The temperature was perfect. Looking nice is fantastic. Looking nice is even more fantastic when you’re totally comfortable.

Other articles of clothing I’m looking forward to wearing: my selvedge raw 16 oz. denim jean jacket from Tellason, my navy MA-1 bomber from Alpha Industries, my Chippewa boots, my Barbour waxed jacket, my L.L. Bean pea coat, my vintage Harris Tweed, and my beloved shawl collar navy wool cardigan from Brooks Brothers… all well-crafted, trend-proof goods that I’ve been wearing for years.

So until the gloom of seasonal mood disorder knocks me down after the holidays, I’m looking forward to a few months of looking good and feeling good in the crisp autumn air.

Cheers.

A little favor…

This little blog, my social media nonsense and my occasional podcast run on elbow grease, midnight oil and the frequent bad idea. Access is totally free. Any help you can give so I can continue to produce content and keep the lights on would be immensely appreciated. There is a one-time support option or a recurring subscription through Patreon, which also features exclusive content like my one-man podcast ‘Hahn, Solo’. Thank you so much!!!
