Web Design
I make Websites that work. (I made this one, natch.) I work exclusively with WordPress, an open-source platform that uses web standards, works on all devices, and plays beautifully with search engines. It comes with a content management system (CMS) that enables you to log into an admin panel and update much of the site content on your own. WordPress helps keep the Web site’s focus where it belongs: on the content.
Whether you are reading this on your laptop, on your iPad or on your iPhone, you are seeing rich Web content in an environment optimized for whichever device you’re using.
Typically, though not exclusively, I work with individuals and small companies in entertainment or other creative trades.
Social Networking
Twitter. Facebook. I love them. I understand them. To get the most out of the social networks, one must use them effectively, consistently and frequently (without being obnoxious). Some of my clients have extremely busy careers and prefer to keep me on a retainer to maintain their social networking properties for them. They email me news, thoughts and ideas, and I create tweets and status updates for them. It works pretty well.
Copyrighting
When Miss Mescan made us do sentence diagrams and Mrs. Vandevelde showed us how to write a good paragraph at St. Luke’s, I thrived. To this day, I agonize over the grammar and structure of my tweets.
Friends and clients have come to me for years with drafts of copy, asking for a bit of polishing or other ideas for a page, a paragraph, a one-liner or a tagline.
I have tremendous respect for the power of words. When used correctly and judiciously, they can be profoundly effective.
Consulting
Answering the “How do I…?”
When are the best times of the day to tweet? What should I blog about? Should I have more or fewer pages on my site? How can I get more fans on Facebook? Should I sell digital downloads, CDs or both? What are the best options for deploying video on my site? We’re on a limited budget and we need to generate buzz. How do we do it? How would having a YouTube channel help me?
These are the kinds of questions on which I consult, and the particulars are different for each client.
