Paul Simonon onstage at The Palladium, September 21, 1979 - Photo by Pennie Smith

The original silent Super-8 footage was filmed by Ruby Max Fury on September 21, 1979, the second of a two-night run at the Palladium in New York City. A fan (DrugStabbingTime) layered bootleg audio onto the footage to give the feeling of what it might be like at that now legendary show. And legendary it was… On this night, photographer Pennie Smith took the famous photo of Paul Simonon smashing his guitar on the stage – the photo that would … Continue reading

Djay iPad App

djay-tn

The Djay app was one of the highest acclaimed apps of 2011. It turns your iPad into a full-on DJ system, accessing all the music and playlists from your Music library. The touchscreen interface and “ultra low–latency” come together to promise a professional mixing experience. Perform live, record mixes on–the–go, or use Automix mode to let Djay automatically mix your favorite playlist from your music library. It’s $20, and I could think of far worse ways to waste time. Get … Continue reading

The George Hahn Podcast: An Introduction

tn-podcast

10 min. An introduction to my new weekly podcast named, oddly, The George Hahn Podcast. In this particular episode, I talk about how the idea started for the show, the website and where I want to take it. I’m really looking forward to intelligent discussion of different areas and options for those of us without money to burn (or anything to prove), but a desire to live well and look good. I hope you enjoy it. The podcast will be … Continue reading

LCD Soundsystem: ‘Shut Up and Play the Hits’ Trailer

lcd_poster_tn

After ten years and three of my favorite albums ever, LCD Soundsystem played its last concert on April 2, 2011 in a four-hour extravaganza at Madison Square Garden (“…a marvel of pure craft” – New York magazine; “we may never dance again.” – Time magazine). The new documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits, follows LCD lead man James Murphy during the period coming up to the show as well as the concert itself. Directed by Dylan Southern and Will … Continue reading
