The Magnetic Fields – “Andrew In Drag” Video
Here is the video for “Andrew In Drag,” the ultra-catchy new tune by The Magnetic Fields. From their website: “Claudia and Stephin rotate on a lazy Susan while Darrell Thorne and Stormy Leather transform themselves with lipstick and pomade.” The video was directed by Scott Valins, and the new album, Love at the Bottom of the Sea, will be released on March 6th (Merge Records).

Radio Roundup: The Week of 1/27/12
Since my college days as a student radio host, I’ve been a sucker for good radio and it’s inherent portability, particularly public radio, like National Public Radio (NPR), Public Radio International (PRI) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Here’s a weekly recap of my favorite bits from the wireless over the past week. Enjoy, and have a great weekend! Here’s The Thing – Lorne Michaels (preview) January 23, 2012 – In this short preview of the next episode of Here’s … Continue reading

Djay iPad App
The Djay app was one of the highest acclaimed apps of 2011. It turns your iPad into a full-on DJ system, accessing all the music and playlists from your Music library. The touchscreen interface and “ultra low–latency” come together to promise a professional mixing experience. Perform live, record mixes on–the–go, or use Automix mode to let Djay automatically mix your favorite playlist from your music library. It’s $20, and I could think of far worse ways to waste time. Get … Continue reading

The George Hahn Podcast: An Introduction
10 min. An introduction to my new weekly podcast named, oddly, The George Hahn Podcast. In this particular episode, I talk about how the idea started for the show, the website and where I want to take it. I’m really looking forward to intelligent discussion of different areas and options for those of us without money to burn (or anything to prove), but a desire to live well and look good. I hope you enjoy it. The podcast will be … Continue reading
LCD Soundsystem: ‘Shut Up and Play the Hits’ Trailer
After ten years and three of my favorite albums ever, LCD Soundsystem played its last concert on April 2, 2011 in a four-hour extravaganza at Madison Square Garden (“…a marvel of pure craft” – New York magazine; “we may never dance again.” – Time magazine). The new documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits, follows LCD lead man James Murphy during the period coming up to the show as well as the concert itself. Directed by Dylan Southern and Will … Continue reading
