The Ipcress File (1965)
Why this movie is no longer available on DVD or Blu-ray or available for streaming anywhere (at least in the U.S.) is beyond me. It’s essential viewing. “Ipcress proves again that one of the primal pleasures of moviegoing is a tingling, no-nonsense suspense yarn enlivened by honest good humor.” – Time Magazine “Caine skillfully resists any temptation he may have had to pep up the proceedings. In fact, his consistent underplaying adds considerably to the pull of the picture.” – … Continue reading

Monday April 16, 2012

After seeing a good documentary (or any good film, for that matter), its immediate power to get us thinking or inspire us to take any action probably lasts a day. We’ll talk about it at the water cooler the next morning, or we’ll bring it up over a dinner conversation about recent movies we saw. But other than that, one questions the ability of a film to genuinely inspire us to change something since most of us go back to … Continue reading

New Video for David Lynch’s “Crazy Clown Time”
We all know David Lynch from his dark, nightmarish and deliciously disturbing films like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr., Inland Empire and the cult favorite television series Twin Peaks. (If you aren’t familiar, get familiar.) Mr. Lynch is clearly an avid music lover with eclectic tastes, and his film work has always been richly layered with music sourced from original cuts as well as scores from his longtime soundtrack composer Angelo Badalamenti. Last year, Mr. Lynch added an … Continue reading
