iPhone 4 Legacy 128k Case
I’ve said it many times… I’m not a fan of cases that hide the appearance of the world’s most elegant smartphone. Les Forges MDK, however, has created something truly special for the iPhone 4. It actually capitalizes on the beautiful look and feel inherent in the iPhone’s design while putting a classic Apple 128K Macintosh skin on it. No word on whether or not it’s available for purchase, but it sure is a fun idea.

Ice Cube Celebrates The Eames
Before he became a rapper, Ice Cube studied Architectural Drafting at the Phoenix Institute of Technology. In this video produced by Pacific Standard Time, he celebrates one of the things he likes about L.A., specifically The Eames House (a.k.a. Case Study House No. 8) designed and built by Charles and Ray Eames. Links: Pacific Standard Time Eames House

Timex Beauties at J.Crew
Ok… I know I just posted something about J.Crew yesterday, but I couldn’t resist. J.Crew did a partnership with Timex, creating four exclusive – and exquisite – men’s watches. They’re sick. Truly handsome and smart men’s timepieces for pretty reasonable numbers. Inspired by classic military design, J.Crew enlisted designers at Timex to create a small collection of classic watches that provide timeless timeliness. They range from $150 to $195. Quite reasonable for such good-looking pieces with trusted Timex reliability. I’d … Continue reading
DODOcase™ for J.Crew for iPad 2
Lately, J.Crew has pulled together some interesting partnerships with some great companies like Adidas, Alden, Barbour, Converse and Timex. Another pairing is with DODOcase, makers of distinctive, classic and decidedly analog-looking cases for iPad, iPad 2 and Kindle. The interior of all of these handsome eco-friendly cases is made with bamboo. The exterior is evocative of the beloved Moleskine books and made with sturdy cloth. I’m kinda partial to the one pictured, which has a faux-leather exterior. The price for … Continue reading
The Art of Pixar: The Complete Color Scripts and Select Art from 25 Years of Animation
Anyone who doesn’t love Pixar movies is either blind or irrevocably bitter. The stories, the humor, the emotion, the animation… I have been thoroughly charmed by every Pixar film I’ve ever seen (though I thought Cars was an anomalous misfire). My personal favorites are Toy Story (all of them), Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up and Wall-E. Beyond the astounding technical achievement and gold standard of animation for which Pixar has become so well known, the movies excel on the … Continue reading

Early Skype and Ho-Jo’s Earthlight Room in ’2001: A Space Odyssey’
Photo Copyright @ 1968 Warner Bros., from CinemaDope.com I stumbled across this black and white photo illustrating terrific detail of the exquisite production design of Kubrick’s 1968 masterpiece. Notice the Bell System “Picturephone” and Howard Johnson’s Earthlight Room. At another angle on this same space station set in the film, there’s a Hilton. It makes one wish American airports looked half this good. Geek, out.
